With iOS 8 fixes now released, this is back to the easiest 5-star app review Ive ever given. The promised free 2.0 upgrade on the horizon will also negate all my minor negative points below. If youre learning to read Thai, or perhaps even a native speaker learning English, this app is worth every penny and then some.
This is without question the dictionary to buy for the serious Thai student—I bought it when it was released, and it obsoleted every other dictionary app I had previously tried (phrase books excepted). You would spend the same on Paiboons printed dictionary, and this has the advantage of portability, audio, the real-world fonts, excellent "Find Words Inside" feature, etc.
The latter, if youve not seen it in comprehensive feature descriptions of the app, lets you find root words that compound words are composed of. I find this to be a very useful way of approaching vocabulary study.
The one missing feature that Ive considered glaring since first purchase is, as other reviewers have mentioned, favorites or custom word groups. When I learn a new word on-the-go or ask a Thai friend to explain the right word for a situation, I want to go home and add it to an Anki flashcard deck. If I forget to do that while the apps lookup history is still reasonably navigable for the words, theyre as good as gone.
